A former UCEN Manchester student has reached out to say an extra special thank you to her tutors, who left a lasting impression.
Rosalyn O’Connor, 23, passed UCEN Manchester’s Access to Higher Education Diploma in English, Writing and Media course with a distinction and is currently studying English with Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.
The undergraduate was initially attracted by the sense of community at UCEN Manchester’s Shena Simon campus and the opportunities to develop as a person. Rosalyn looks back on her 12-month course with fondness and is extremely grateful for the outstanding support she received, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rosalyn, who left UCEN Manchester with 141/144 UCAS points, said: “During my adolescence, there were times when I felt isolated and let down by the education system but my time at UCEN Manchester has helped me turn things around and transform my life.
“My tutors went above and beyond to encourage and support me throughout my studies. They recognised my abilities and reignited my passion for English.”
The knowledge and skills that Rosalyn learnt at UCEN Manchester are helping her grow and excel on her higher education course.
“I’ve found myself ahead of the class thanks to the referencing skills and literary techniques I’ve learnt.” She added: “My confidence is at an all-time high and I’m able to balance studying alongside extra-curricular activities.”
